can i have 15 credit cards?

Options
I need the answers to a question

i am 21, been in my job for 1 month. i have been officially unemployed for about 2 years, was homeless during that time
i have only just swapped my council house, been there 1 month too
MY CREDIT RATING IS FAULTLESS
my current labouring job pays about 900 per month into my account and its through the books . I know i need that to take out a loan which i hope to do aswell on my current account and outgoings is only about 380 per month

can i get 15 or so other credit cards? im used to offers of cards through my door ever since i turned 18 (especially loads just after i turned 18)

do all new credit cards have an overdraft???

am i likely to get accepted for any new cards i apply with my faultless record, albeit such small payments into my account?

i basically need to know can someone in my position get a lot of credit cards with an overdraft as long as my credit rating is excellent?

if this sounds strange its because i intend to withdraw all money and any loans then leave the country and go to asia for several years to get out the rate race, i know i will be "screwed" when i come back but thats my problem....... i just need my question answered

i am sure people will have an opinion on my plan but please try to answer my question aswell

thanks
sammy

I hope that nobody on a Money Saving Site is going to condone you getting into debt as well as screwing the system

  • It's entirely unlikely you'll get 15 credit cards without applying for so many that your credit rating is porked for a significant length of time, if at all. You have, frankly, no chance whatsoever.

As a more philosophical objection, why the hell should anyone assist you in your quest to screw over 15 seperate companies for no other reason than personal gain? That marks you out less as a money saver, more as a sociopath.

  • no im sure most will not agree with my idea it thats fair enough but i know what will happen when i return and i accept that fully

al mac you are so far from the truth mate...!

why cant i get that amount of credit cards? they all harrassed me with letters when i turned 18 to take out an account with them, why cant i take out accounts with said companys (and others i find on the internet) now?
  • They sent the letters to you purely because of your age. The letters were inviting you to apply, not offering you accounts.

To be honest, I think you'd have trouble filling in the forms.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it
  • I'm not personally concerned by what will happen to you when you return, because you would thoroughly deserve it, whatever it is.

You cannot get that amount of credit cards because a) if you applied for 15 credit cards they would see more applications building up and think you are desperate for credit (which, by the sounds of it, you are) b) even if you took it painstakingly slowly, your available credit would skyrocket and therefore other companies are less likely to lend to you c) even though they harassed you when you were 18, you weren't actively looking and therefore they just saw you as a cash cow waiting to be exploited; this time, you ARE actively looking and d) by the time you'd successfully applied for 15 entire credit cards it will have taken you so long that at least one of your accounts would probably have been deactivated due to disuse.

In short: your plan is ridiculous and unfeasible, if not outright contemptible. If you want to escape the rat race, there are easier and more feasible ways to do it than fraud and debt evasion.
  • so if i applied for all the credit cards, and the loan on the same day.... all the companies would find out about all the other applications doing it that way?

Yes. The credit reference agencies will record each search of their files, which are then seen by anyone searching your file during a credit application file. 15 credit card applications and a loan application in one day would be seen by them as either fraud or financial desperation; either way, no hope in hell. You're supposed to have about one application a month, not 15 a day.

Don't consider this advice btw. I have no interest in assisting you in your insane, reckless and most likely criminal scheme.

Well said SS. One girl I work with (at a bank call centre.....please warn me before throwing anything rotten or likely to set off my allergies) is from Ghana, and she mentioned that some people she knew had been in Britain for as little as a year, before they were lent over £10k on cards. They then withdraw the money, with help from 'dodgy' retailers, then scarper off back to Ghana, then return a few months later with a new passport.

Personally, if the banks are as reckless as that with their lending, then its their own fault, but in the end its the paying punters who suffer.
