I clearly touched a nerve when I posted Martin's opinion of the company (from 2006 IIRC) and, unfortunately, he went into attack mode again. Sorry. My fault.
Hi Heinz
I think it was more "defensive" mode, to be honest.
MikePersonally I'm always ready to learn, although I do not always like being taught - Sir Winston Churchill0 -
Why would you want to defend the issue on a moneysavers forum?
OK primus is allowed BUT at a cost of £3, therefore to all intents is priced out of the picture with uw.
Why would anyone want to join up with uw (costing at least £1.76 a month in membership fees) to then have to pay £3 (£4 if you take into account the £1 minimum monthly charge uw imposes) to get primus when it's free via BT?0 -
Just butting in here.. my dad's a UWDC distributer and we're always telling him to get a better job and keep UWDC as a part time hobby.. it is bringing him in some money though. Anyway, you keep saying that Mike and other UWDC are just in here promoting UWDC all the time etc. But surely, when you look closer, you are posting competitor's pricing and thus, subtly, advertising/promoting these companies and services. Sure it may only be in response to UWDC's "promotion" but the distributer's truely believe, based on their experiences and experiences of their retained customers, that UWDC can and does save you money. Therefore surely are they not entitled to post what saving could be made through them, just as you are stating the price of other companies services, thus promoting them yourself (whether or not you use them or work for them).
That, in effect is one of the reasons I dislike this website. Martin states (or used to I havnt actually looked in awhile) that the website is free from advertising, but on almost every page to do with utilities and the such, there's a link to USwitch or money supermarket or one of the many other price comparison sites. Surely the commission he makes from referals, is big, and even if he makes zilch, he's still mentioning them in his articles and therefore advertising.0 -
I cancelled my Utility Warehouse account in August 2009 after being with them for 12 years since September 1997 since they began. They have just outrageously billed me £59.98 for smartboxes (I only ever had one box - so old it wasnt even pig shaped!) sent to me TWELVE years ago.
They have decided as a 'goodwill gesture' to refund the amount now. And bl**dy right they should too.0 -
Hi all,
I just wanted to add a note in about the Utility Warehouse. I have been with them for 5 months. 5 Months of hell. I cannot urge people strongly enough to keep away from them. I was mis-sold, but now no-one in the customer service team will believe me as the 'distributor' has lied. I feel that if anyone is even considering using them just google them and you will find out that they have many, many complaints. I just wish I had never had anything to do with them. Now they are wanting to charge me a £50.00 cancellation fee. When I signed up with them, the distributor told me there was no cancellation fee. Just do yourselves a favour and steer clear. All the best everyone. hugs :-)0
