Dog eaten glasses -worth claiming?

Hello - got back from a nice meal in the pub to find my dog has chewed my reading glasses (prescription). The legs are chewed and they are wonky which won't help my eyes. Does anyone know if it is worth claiming on house insurance or will they just hike the renewal when it comes up? The frames were only £55 and looks like the actual lenses are ok. If I have to pay up, fair enough - my fault for not noticing they were left in kitchen with chewy dog. I'll take them along to the opticians and see what they can do. I go locally as it is something I want to support.
Thanks

depends on your excess, may not be worth it as it is usually £50 minimum anyway.
If the front of the frame and the lenses are still ok it may be worth checking with your optician how much a couple of new sides would cost. I work for specsavers and we would probably charge around £20 or less for 2 sides for a cheapish frame (not sure of exact prices), or we would look through our box of "parts" for a couple of sides which would fit (they may not match but we would do this free of charge if the original frames were bought from us)Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
Thanks wishiwasarichgirl - didn't even think about the excess. I'm sure it's £50. I'll see what the opticians can do with them. Blimmin' dog! (but very adorable)

Never mind the specs ... is the dog OK? Assuming you can see him properly:p
(When I read the heading .. I'd assumed he'd been at the champagne flutes)If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
