It's not the colour that should be of concern so much, as has been said, but the smell could mean trouble - but I can't smell it from here. :)

  • Well, if it doesn't smell nasty, and by it's nature it's going to cook for a couple of hours, so then it'll be OK

well he was at 7pm :D , he's gone to work, would have rather he stayed at home today cos its not very often he's ill, and i hate to watch him suffer. he's determined to soldier on and has taken half the bloody medicine cabinet in with him!!

that said, this food posioning business takes time, so i'd best not count my chickens too soon!!!!!

it wasnt bad, swede was a bit woody in parts, but other than that, not bad at all. i even ate the beef bits. i chopped them up too, which for someone who hates the feel of raw meat is quite an achievement

it has to be said, its is a well known fact that everything-bar-the-kitchen-soup/stew tastes better when it is a few days old and you are getting to the murky depths of the pot *licks lips*

oooh my poor expanding waistline :D :rotfl:

Honestly you'll know if meat is off when you smell it - it has a smell that at least will make your nose wrinkle, at worst will hit your stomach. The same goes for eggs, you think you won't know what an off egg will smell like until you smell it!

Think of off milk...most people don't know what it smells like/tastes like until their first time - then they just know!!!

And with pheasant you are suppose to hang it until it had maggots in it  grim I know.

Don't forget a lot of us (me included) have been brought up with beef that looks red. And we think it is good. To my mind when it starts to go brown it looks nasty and so is not good.

I know that is not correct. But just can't help it when I see raw brown beef it puts me off.
