Cheap Whistler Rentals, Restaurants etc Advice

Hi everyone,
I'm going to be jetting off to Whistler near Vancouver in Canada at the end of March for skiing, and was wondering whether any MSEs out there could give me some tips on keeping the price of the holiday down once out there...
There'll be six of us, so we'll be spending a significant amount of money on rentals, ski passes and ski school - bearing in mind that there are so many shops and rental places in the town, has anyone had a particularly good deal?
Also, my boyfriend will need to buy a new ski jacket and pants, so was wondering if anyone has come across a good shop - either online in the UK, or in Whistler.
Any recommendations for restaurants, experiences or nightlife also gratefully received!! Thanks!:o

I returned from Whistler a week ago and am desperate to go back!
Nearly all of the rental places are run by the WhistlerBlackcomb company and the best prices are available online (www.whistlerblackcomb.com) in advance. Please under no circumstances wait until you get there to book either equipment or lift passes. We saved nearly 50% by doing this. I remember seeing a few independent rental places dotted around the village, but can't comment on them.
Our lift passes were marginally cheaper through our tour operator than the website because they has some sort of deal on at the time (www.skisafari.com - but only available if you book your holiday with them). Again, massive savings by booking in advance.
Didn't come across anywhere particularly cheap in Whistler to buy ski gear, but there is certainly plenty of choice! Bargains are probably best found here before you go. I was told this week that the Mountain Warehouse Outlet store at Clarks Village (Somerset), have crazy bargains. Possibly the same situation at other shopping villages near you?
Eating out in Whistler can be as cheap or expensive as you like. Pick up a copy of the Whistler Dining Guide for ideas, or just walk around and see what takes your fancy. We had a kitchen in our apartment and bought supplies at the supermarket to make our own breakfast and lunch.
You'll have a fab time - I'm so jealous!!!0 -
You normally get cheap ski gear in TK Maxxtravelover0

I second the TK Maxx recommendation. Well worth a visit to see what they've got.
It might also be worth checking Aldi. My girlfriend got a decent ski outfit there that has proved durable, waterproof and the rest despite a very low price.0
