Travel Claim Rejected .. HELP!!! Please!

Hi
We were luck enough to got to Disney Land in January and we had fab time. However , my wife left her handbag in one of the Restaraunts in the Epcot park. It had all the usual , cash, sunglasses etc + the kids DS's and multiple games.

We went to Disney Lost and Found on 3 different occasions but the bag never turned up.

When we got home we sent a claim off to our insurers and have had correspondence from them saying that they need confirmation that we reported the loss to a place of authority with in the alloted time scale (24 hours from loss).

They want this in writing and we simply dont have it. Didn't think to call the police to be honest, just assumed it would be handed in or Police would not be interested. Niave I know, but we were on the holiday of a life time and just did not think.

Anyway, is there anything I can do? Can they just rejject my claim out of hand like that ? Would be grateful for any advice!

I would suggest that you tell them that it was reported - to Disney - but that there were no facilities for the report to be put in writing. Do you have, e.g., names of the Disney people? And don't say Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse!

It is standard procedure for travel insurance that you have to notify the Police, usually within 24-48 hrs of the loss / offence.. I guess if I was being mean I would say you should have read all of that small print :)

Not sure what you can do really?

Hopefully someone will be along with a suggestion..

FSA has ruled that if the Police don't issue a report then you can still claim. Trouble is you would have to demonstrate that you tried.

Would any of the people in the office remember you (after all you went there 3 times).
Could you get them to put something in writing to prove that you did go there?
