Don't really know where to put this, hope it's ok here, anyway...
This morning my eBay account was hijacked, along with possibly my email account. PayPal so far seems fine, and I've since recovered access to my email and informed MS / eBay and changed passwords to any and everything i can think of.
I've a feeling I should contact my bank (HSBC) about it though, as both paypal / ebay could be used to withdraw funds and, even though i'm 100% sure there was nothing relating to it in my email account, I do have an online account with HSBC and as I'm not entirely sure how my eBay account was hijacked I couldn't be certain the same thing couldn't happen to my HSBC account.
So, does anyone know a number or email I need to contact to let HSBC know what's going on? HSBC's site is a bit of a mess
Thanks.

Give there Lost & Stolen Cards number a ring, may not be the right department but they should put you in touch with who you need to speak to.0 -
Um how do you know it was hijacked?
I have had a few emails as of late saying 'rar rar rar your account has been breached, please go here and fill the information in so we know who you are etc.' which are compleltey fake, so instead of https://www.paypal.com it goes to a fob site https://www.paypai.com which a lot of people don't notice.
CHECK OVER THIS. and if it was a fake email, alert eBay straight away as well as bank account etc.0 -
>> Um how do you know it was hijacked?
my password was refused by ebay (and also hotmail, though possibly unrelated...), and after re-gaining access to hotmail I had the usual "your password has been changed..." email from ebay stating a different ip address from my own. given that the ebay site was telling me my pasword had changed, ebay's emails were telling me it had been changed, and my email account password may have been changed, i assumed the worst...
i've now got access back and turns out it was hijacked. how, i'll never know as ebay's live help isn't the most technical. What I do know is the password was originally changed at 07:00 almost on the dot. That to me signifies bot based useage, which then indicates possibly trojan type infection in my pc (a scan later revealed at least virtumonde was present and a few otheres, i didn't wait to check em out before removing) feeding info back to an automated system for the original password change, then passing on the info to someone else later on....
The account was also use to post a new listing, just minutes before ebay put a hold on the account. They wouldn't give me many details on that either, but if any of you listed a Nintendo Wii at around 17:30 then be affraid...
Anyway, it';s mostly back to normal now. HSBC india didn't seem too fussed though (them: "if they have your ebay account why would you be worried about your bank account?" me: "it's HOW they got my ebay account that worries me..."). but my card and online details have now been changed
thanks for the help anyway.0
