which may make sense if she ate sugar puffs etc. I think as it will be a dip test then yes they should tell you there and then.
  • My OH and I always have sugar puff wee wee in the morning. Apparently it's because of dehydration as you don't drink during the night, but once that initial wee, we are both back to normal. Does your daughter's wee smell like it all the time, or just at certain times of the day?

    Good luck!
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:
  • my OH has always smelt like this he also has unusually high sugar levels and has been tested for diabetes a number of times always negitive and they say nothing to worry about. it might be something to do with diabetes or just high sugar but get it checked and good luck.

It's only in the morning and not very often at all, wasn't overly concerned but nice to know other people have the same problem and it's nothing. Obviously as she is a baby i will get it checked out just in case.

My friend says her husband's wee smells like sugar puffs (don't ask) but only in the morning and he's not diabetic.

  • I remember DDs poo being streaked with a sort of turquoise green atrificial looking colour. Turned out to be the blue food colouring in the icing of a friends birthday cake.

My friends baby was in the early stages of weaning and had pink wee. It turned out that his mother was feeding him beetroot! She felt a little foolish, if releived when she saw her GP. (very understanding and didn't make her feel silly, she did that all by herself!)

It could be something she's eaten but best to get it checked.

  • Hello Delilah,

I'm not a medical doctor but I am a doctor of Biochemistry and I would tend to agree with what other posters say - take her to the doctors for a diabetes test. Urine can smell sweet if there is sugar in it. This can happen if sugar in the body is excreted rather than being absorbed. It is the job of the hormone insulin to control sugar balance and sweet urine is an indicator of insulin not being produced or not working properly. Actually, diabetes was first discovered by tasting urine (yuk!) and finding it to be 'honeyed'. In our age of medical advancement, diabetes can be easily treated so don't worry about getting a test.

    Hope this helps,
    Best wishes! :D
