Delayed Abbey Statements

Has anyone else been receiving there Abbey statements late recently. My statement date is the 4th and for the last few months hasn't been arriving until around 19/20th. Caused me a real problem this month as they hit me with £112 bank charges, received the statement on the 19th, charges taken on the 26th (7 days notice). There T/C state that they give 14 days notice for any charges to be applied. Phoned Customer Services, would not refund charges as had some reversed in past 12 months, pushed the 14 days notice point, all they could do was increase my overdraft to cover the charges? Surely as they are in breach of T/C they could have done more. Anyone had same problem?

Hey there
Yes there is an issue with statements, yesterday we got an email from head office saying that if you go into branch to report it, we have to pass it on to higher up so they can investigate.
Hope this helps0 -
You have a computer why not check your balances online?
You probably have an ATM card why not check the balance this way?
You probably have a telephone either a mobile or landline - why not use it to call the bank to see what your balance is?
Are you sure that the charges levied apply to this month or from last month?
Sorry but it is your responsibility to look after your account - a late statement doesn't alter this fact.0 -
not always can you like say your card has ended you can not check your account online same with telephone bankingjonesMUFCforever wrote: »You have a computer why not check your balances online?

Jones, what kkpolarbear is trying to say is that Abbey uses a weird system for online banking, you can only log on if you have a valid card as your user ID is your 16 digit card number, if the card is cancelled/stolen/out of date, you cannot log on Ebanking0 -

Preventative measures i.e financial forecast, pay bills then shop etc etcSince when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0

Lucky you your statements are only days late I have had no statements since Nov 07 only noticed when we came back from extended visit to NZ. Have rung several times over the past month promises but no statements.
They obviously have a problem somewhere.0 -

Yes I do have a computer, and check my account daily, obviously you are not aware that pending charges do not show on internet banking! hence the fact paper statements should arrive giving the 14 days notice as per there terms and conditions.
So yes I do check my account, but the information is not there until charges are applied. Hope that enlightens you. !:j :j :j :T :T0 -

I work for Abbey, tomorrow I will speak to my manager and ask what our position is on the 14 days (as in ask what we are meant to do), as Abbey is extremely aware of statement issues.
The call centre is absolutely uselss, they never realise that we have one rule for branch and another for call centre.
Will let you know tomorrow night.
