I thought government/bank of England had decided that they would keep the wraps on any bank in trouble - to stop the massive panic which would bound to ensue.0

Did you leave Nationwide BS out of the list because it is not a "bank" or because you think it is obscure ?
It isnt a clearing bank. or a retail bank for that matter.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Well, actually there are 12 members of the group - according to this :

Natwest and Royal Bank of Scotland are still listed as separate entities - in line with their separate FSA registrations. Does anyone know if this is likely to change (a la HBOS) in the future? (I know we have some employees of these banks on the forum.)Imprudent granting of credit is bound to prove just as ruinous to a bank as to any other merchant.
