Tax credit confusion!

Hi everyone.
I'm currently on maternity leave having had my baby last month.
I informed the tax credit people about the birth of my daughter and am currently waiting for my award notice to come through. However I'm a bit confused now. Was I supposed to tell them when I started Maternity leave?
I'm on £81 a week statutory maternity pay.
I have 2 children (one under one year old).
My partner earns £18,000 a year and my previous years wage is £4300.
Somebody told me that they disregard the first £100 a week of statutory maternity pay is that correct and if so should I tell them now or wait until April?
Sorry if I've confused anyone:rotfl:

Maternity leave is still classed as being employed.
I believe your partner earns too much for you to be entitled to the child element of CTC so you'll only be entitled to the family element of £545 a year. (£1090 in 1st year upto childs 1st birthday) Your entitlement would be calculated dependant on your income and circumstances.
Your partner may be eligible for WTC though Unfortunately not due to income
You'll have to declare your joint earnings come april time anyway to take into account what you have earned between April 07-April 08.
Give them a call to check what is happening, have you noticed any change in your payments?0 -

This is correct and you can either tell them now or wait until you complete your renewal with your P60 figures and deduct the £100 per week from it (maximum 39 weeks).
