Hi,
A little from left field ... can any one recommend a kerb dropper in Manchester (i'm actually in Salford City Councils boundaries but they don't offer a service).
cheers in advance

If it's a public highway I always thought that the council had a list of approved contractors that you had to use. Apparently it can be quite expensive and the only way to get it cheaper is to encourage yourneighbours to have their kerb dropped too.0

Hi N.
This work HAS to go through your local council, as you need permision to do it! Either the council do the work for you, or they may give you a list of Streetworks certified contractors. You are asking for trouble if anyone else does it! There are also a number of conditions that have to be met before they will allow it, i.e min. drive length 4.8mtr, min width of gates 2.3mtrs, the driveway surfacing has to be approved and so on. They usualy charge around £500 for this, but you may get a discount in certain circumstances, or even free if you need disabled access. Speak to your local Highways Dept.0 -
my MIL lives just off oxford rd salford.
i got some men who were working nearby to do the drop kerb during their lunchbreak. it cost me 100 quid.
the only way the council will ever know is if the neighbours grass you up.
prob saved my MIL about 700 quid.Get some gorm.0 -
So assuming they did a good job, is this a case of the council using its monopoly to extract extra monies for tax payersmy MIL lives just off oxford rd salford.
