Removing chimney breast/stack

Hi,

I am considering having the chimney breast/stack removed from my house which is on the side of neighours (terraced). Before I get a quote in, I was wondering if people on her may be able to give me a quick quote on roughly how much it will cost. Alternatively, would it be cheaper/easier just to remove the downstairs part and have it reinforced?

The house is end terraced, two storey, build 1930's.

Thanks for your help

  • To be honest I think the first question you need to be asking is should I remove the chimney stack....I mean do you know if the wall concerned is a load bearing wall?

A structural engineer would be able to tell you if this is the case and could prove cheaper in the long run!
