Halifax cards don't allow balance transfer into a current account. You will have to apply for a card that allows money to be transferred into current accounts, i.e. Virgin & Egg.0
-
You could do a balance transfer direct to Argos card from Halifax and there is no reason why they should not do a balance transfer to your other card: just that they will not do it via your current acount.

barclaycard , halifax and marbles have so far refused to BT my argos card , marbles say it`s bacause the `system` wont take the over sized account number , but have said they will send me some BT cheques that argos are obliged to accept as payment
although im looking to close the argos account so i spose i`ll need to phone for a settlement figure
barclaycard refused to because they dont do BT`S from `catalogue` cards

Have you read my step-by-step instructions (made at 11.45 this morning) at the end of your other thread?HelenR wrote:and they said no , i had kind advice from here to do this , BT to my current account , then pay off argos like that and then transfer the balance onto my intended BT card

i have now yb , thankyou
, but im a)confused a little and b)not sure of my current ability to obtain more credit cards
i have a barclay loan of just under 23k at 7.9 , a barclaycard with 6.9 lifetime on balance transfers standing at 4k with £950 to add hopefully from the argos card
im reasonably happy with marbles offer , as they say the BT Cheque cost nothing but the 14.9 apr because ive just ran out of the 7.9 , but that matters litle because im immediatley going to transfer it onto my barclaycard...

The way I see it now is...
1. You have to pay the Argos card from current account funds, and
2. The only way you have of getting CC funds into your current account is through Hubby's Egg card
so...
Transfer the (cash) amount of the Argos debt from Hubby's Egg to your current account. Hubby will start to incur 14.9% interest (at least it better than a storecard!!).
If you can get another 0% card, great - BT the Egg debt over to it (beware of BT fees).
If your situation means you can't get another 0% card, then I'm afraid you're stuck with the Egg @ 14.9%.
Just one more tip, it's best to continue with the one thread rather than starting another. That way you can keep abreast of developments (ie my post made a full 6 hours before you started this thread), and we don't get repetition of replies.
Good luck.0 -

Thanks very much for simplifying it for me YB
do you advise not to pay argos with a marbles BT cheque ? but to BT the amount from the EGG card instead ?
the egg , as you say is 14.9 and so is the marbles..and if i cannot get a 0% card its going on the 6.9 for life barclaycard anyway.
and i will keep in mind about nstarting too manhy threads and messing people about

I'm not really advising which way to do it - I'm telling you it can be done with the tool you already have - the Egg card.HelenR wrote:do you advise not to pay argos with a marbles BT cheque ? but to BT the amount from the EGG card instead ?
As for the Marbles cheques, I've been reading these (and other) boards for several months now, and I've formed the impression that you're better off not using cheques at all.
I'm not familiar with the Marbles card, so I've just had a look at the Marbles web site and the card's summary box. I can find no mention of credit card cheques so, at the end of the day, my approach would be "if I can't see the T&C's in black & white, I'm not using 'em".
I'm not familiar with LOB cards/deals, but are you sure you can add further debt later? Or is it the debt you start with that is fixed for LOB?HelenR wrote:...its going on the 6.9 for life barclaycard anyway.0 -

well , according to barclays when i rang , only balance transfers at the moment qualify , we certainly dont intend using the barclaycard for purchases , they rang me because i had left the card at 0 for the last 10-11 months , so ive just spent only the last few days transfering the egg and marbles , just the argos one left..
thanks for your help YBKeep on keeping on... :beer:0
