I think people are either good at numbers or english, not both. I'm good at English but can't add up without the use of my faithful Casio, husband maths genius but can't spell for toffee.
Face it Martin, you're good at figures.....
... should that be women's figures based on the ITV news blog entry! LOL!0 -
What a shame you said "no". We love to laugh (in a friendly affectionate way) at "celebs" being crap at something.Torgwen.......... ...........0

True Fran, and to be honest i don't mind being made a fool of. What worries me is people may think 'he can't spell, he's stoopid, not listening to him on money either!'Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Most people with any talent can't spell. We're all too busy being talented, to waste our time learning English's broken spelling. Freespeling anyone?古池や蛙飛込む水の音0

The sort of work that I do means whenever I start looking for a new job and register with employment agencies, I get given a spelling test by the recruitment consultants. For my current job, the actual employer gave me tests in spelling, punctuation and grammar AFTER an hour's intensive interviewing. Oh, and touch-typing too.
Pity that the people I ended up working for do not pay much attention to these things!0 -
Hehe - I always thought that bug was spelt "dire rear"!
(Not really) I might use my street cred as a former legal proofreader. Now THAT was fun!0 -
AAwww Martin you should of done it. I would of coached ya!! The only thing i consistently got top marks in was spelling!!0

It doesn't matter about your spelling Martin, however, don't give up the day job to be a comedian !!! He He He... only kidding...
Everyone is good at some things and bad at others, and as long as you realise these things and are prepared to do your best - who minds ????? Perhaps your agent can come up with the 'Weakest Link' and give Anne Robinson a run for her money, or do a stint on countdown with Carol Vorderman, I bet you wouldn't mind doing some sums with her eh eh eh eh ....

As an ICT teacher seeing bad spelling infuriates me. Being unable to spell is excusable but being unable to recognise the problem and use a spell checker isn't.
I am cursed with a total inabilty to spell correctly as I was taught ITA at a young age and that turned out to be a completed disaster. I have however found that in the past 10 years my spelling has improved greatly due entirely to the automatic spell checker in Word. Seeing each mistake underlined in red really helped me to learn spelling, being given the chance to then choose the correct spelling without being made to look silly is helpful.
Yes I refuse to correct the kids spelling, I just tell them its wrong and to go off and sort it out.
P.S - I don't have the spelling tool downloaded on this new laptop so I couldn't spell check this entry! The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0
