Landlord’s Insurance Buildings & Contents

Over the past 7 years I have built up a mixed portfolio of “Buy to Let” properties, these include houses, flats and bed sits, with tenants ranging from professional people to DHS and students.
I have previously obtained Insurance cover for only buildings and contents via an Insurance Broker, now, as with other types of outgoing expenses, I need to carry out a feasibility exercise to try to reduce costs for the same.
I would be grateful to receive both advice and recommendations from other posters/landlords, on firstly Insurance Companies that could provide competitive quotes for the same, and whether posters have included cover for emergency repairs and guarantee of rent, and their experiences when/if making a claim against the same?
Thanks in anticipation of any assistance/advice Wings

Well I don't know about most of the stuff you want but we let one property and Insure buildings and minimal contents with a company called Portwood Ltd.
see http://www.portwood.co.uk.
I just received this year's renewal and they have found me a cheaper policy and I didn't have to do anything for it short of fill in a form and send it back.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

After much research and getting several quotes, I eventually signed up to a local Landlords Association Group @ £45 per annum, this allowing me a preferential discount on insurance with the Bateman Group at web site http://www.bateman-group.co.uk/infoessential.html.
On one property up for insurance, the above company under cut both my previous insurers, Endsleigh and Alan Boswell by approximately 30% £115.0 -
Hi,
Terrible experience with Endsleigh. Appears to be deliberate policy to avoid paying on claim.
D.Thanks to all who've gone before, and those yet to arrive.0
