Why don't you simply apply for a card elsewhere or I am missing something here?

I did. Like I said though, like smarties too much to get rid of it :p
  • Frankly, I don't mind. Compared to Vanquis and Aqua (the other two cards I have) the only benefit they have is online statements and maybe a 1% lower interest rate, which barely matters to me anyway. Both Vanquis and Aqua offered me £250 straight off, so it isn't like I can't afford it/can't handle it.

Might as well keep the Cap1 card open for a bit tho, since it's the oldest of my cards and probably therefore has the greatest effect on my credit report.

Always makes me laugh though, people say they hand out credit cards with high limits like candy to 18 year olds, wish I had such luck... :S

You'll probably get the highest limit with your own bank, simply because they know you ect. With these other companies, your still largely an unknown.

As for you credit file, one credit card being repaid in full is better than lots of ones with low limits. I wouldn't worry too much about length of time you hold the card, choose one and cancel the rest.

  • Hmm... I know that having so much available credit is bad, but I don't know if anyone could tell me: I have 3 credit cards, £250 limit on two and £100 limit on one. So, considering that some people have credit limits in excess of £10,000, what would £650 in available credit do to my chances of being accepted? (Will be trying HSBC in a couple of months, as apparently I'd have pretty good chances with them...)
