MOT problem??

i recently had some work done on our N reg V Astra, on 70,ooo miles

on the bill/report he noted:
O/S front suspension strat mount starting to split.

our MOT is due in oct, is this going to be a problem? what does it mean?!

    It is the place where the shock absorber (front strut) mounts to the bodywork. It sounds as if it is rusting around the mounting point - this is a definate MOT failure and will need welding up.

    Probably better and safer to just get it replaced.
    Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

    You cannot replace the mounting point, you need to have it repaired by welding.

    My mistake I read is as the strut was splitting. :o
