Can anyone tell me what is an Electron Credit Card? How can I get one? How is it different from the usual credit cards

An Electron card is a bit like a debit card but not all companies and shops accept them. I found paying for stuff over the phone a bit hit and miss with who would take them.0

Good question! I have one through my Spanish bnk account, and I think Barclay's used to do it in the U.K.
I don't know why, but when I book flight with Ryanair, and pay with a Visa electron card, they do not charge me extra. They do with a debit or credit card.
Have a look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_Electron
It may hold the info you want.Lic.0 -
We have electron card and it is pretty useless... think it must be the lowest form of debit card that you can get with not too good credit... switch is much better. it is not accepted online at tesco so i cant use them anymore.... and loads of other places... its not good stich with what you already have if it is better. but if is al you can get you find a way to cope with it
ours is through the cooperative bank and they wont even give me a cheque book
so it must be low in the credit line lol...

I have a Visa Electron Debit card and is accepted in nearly all high street stores. I cant think off hand which ones don't accept it, I think there are very few that don't.
Asda instore do - Asda home delivery do
Tesco instore do - online don't
Marks and spencer instore do - online don't
Sainsburys instore do - online don't.
Most places are starting to take them online now. Shame Tescos and the other big ones have no plans to start accepting them online. But if you shop mainly on the high street instore than like I said you'd be hard pressed to find a store that DOSEN'T take itCapital one was £1000.00 now £0.00:j
Barclaycard was £250.00 now £190. 00
Asda credit card was £500.00 now £0.00:j
Aim to be credit card free by December 2012... Mostly done0 -
I have done loads of Sainsburys online shopping and they have always accepted my Visa Electron debit card.

Yes me too! I used to use Tesco for online shopping but when I got this card had to switch to Sainsbury. No prob using it at Sainsbury
Edited to say - Tesco told me the reason they don't accept it online is because you have to be 18 to use the service but can hold an Electron card aged under 18, I guess this may rule out its use in Off Licences etc too0 -

Me too. And the exchange conversion rate seems to be the Interbank/Visa rate too with no loadings - like Nationwide!!!0 -
having just booked 2 flights to Granada and return @ £5.99, I find the total bill to be £133! I am now not able to use a straight debit card so i have to pay £12 for using a credit card. I would like to obtain a Visa Electron card as they appear to be free.0

I think Visa Electron is like Solo - debit card with no overdraft.
Mrs Mothballs had a Solo card when she first opened her Halifax account here, then 6 months later they gave her a full Switch card; now, Halifax have issued her a Visa Debit card.0
