75,000 to invest

Options
I have 75.000 to invest on a short term basis but would like to achieve the highest return possible. Do need instant access (though 2 or 3 days would be ok) so could use an internet only savings account and transfer money as needed to a nominated account. I have applied for the Northern Rock online tracker at 5.41% but found the web site really time consuming and rather erratic - not user friendly. I am a non tax payer. Please help as at present I have the money sitting in a current bank account doing nothing| Thanks :o

Would suggest Cahoot at 5.1% internet account.
    Personally I've had no problems.

Agreed, the website is very clunky. I find you have to use Internet Explorer instead of my preferred Firefox, and you have to use the Microsoft Java VM instead of any alternative that you might have installed.

The actual operation of the account, however, is as good as any other online savings account, and therefore (for me anyway) the excellent interest rate makes it worth sticking with. Only for 6 months though!

Or, with £75K, you might want to split that among 3 accounts so you don't have too much with any single provider. This also hedges you against the possibility of one of them reducing their interest rate.

You certainly dont want to be investing unless you are of a high risk nature. Savings accounts would be more appropriate.

Multi-tasking is a way of ensuring you don't enjoy any of them.
