HI, I'm sure this info is available somewhere, but its too well hidden, can anyone tell me.
My hubby is likely to loose his job soon, not his fault, but will be sacked, not made redundant. I work 1 day a week as a driving instructor, and earn about £100 forless than 15 hours, and we have a mortgage. What sort of benefits might we get, would they pay the mortgage for a while, would any money depend on what I ern, or how many hours I work? Its all so complicated, I'm not after exact info, just roughly?

He will be able to get JSA if he is sacked, I think they will also be able to tell him of other benefits too c/t etc.0

They dont pay your mortgage, they will only pay the interest for you. Try looking here http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life/benefits.htm0

You are only entitled to WTC if you do 16 hours or more. He will only get anything from JSA if he has enough NI payments to qualify for Contributions Based. If he does income based, then what he is awarded will be penalised by what income you have.
You may also be able to claim Income Support. In short, if you can find 16 hours of work as a driving instructor then claim WTC instead of your hubby claiming JSA.0
