tyre advice
Hello,
I need some new tyres but I'm a bit useless on the mechanical side.
The spec is 185/70 R14 H
and I'm thinking of getting Firestone F700's which are £41.75 fully fitted (special offer) with blackcircles.com
The car is H reg (17.5 years old) so longevity is not an issue as I expect the tyres to out-live the car, but I tend to get mid-range rather than budget.
It's a Subaru Legacy estate so quite a big car.
I think that's a pretty good deal, but if anyone knows any better deals out there or has any comments on the suitability of the tyres then please let me know (the rating was quite good on blackcircles).
I also looked at Barum Brillantis but those mentioned small and medium cars so I dismissed that.
Cheers for any advice as this isn't my forte.

Remember Quidco with Black Circles.
Firestones should be ok.....0 -
that doesnt sound too bad, also have a look through the best offers tab on black circles for your size, they sometimes dont always show up on searches....work permit granted!0
-
just had a look at it,black circles is cheaper than mytyres.co.uk
if you get it delivered its only £27.65, if you can find a fitting centre to fit it for you for a tenner or under then you will save another few quid.but remember some places dont like to fit tyres you bought from somewhere else (usually bigger garages like kwik fit etc...) try some of the smaller back street tyre fitters....work permit granted!0 -
Have you phoned a few tyre places for some quotes? a few minutes on each call lasting 3 mins, I think it's worth phoning a few to see what they can offer you off the shelf. Support your local businesses.0

Hi,
Blackcircles is good - ive used them a few times. Even the budget tyres will last many years and also outlive the car - the garage i got mine fitted said that the budget ones have to pass the same tests as all other tyres and so usually no need to pay more than need be....
Heres a tip : Use quidco and then put this code PC988896827 as your promotion code and you get an extra £5 off each order! Only valid for tyres not on special offer.
Another tip - if you order one tyre at a time and use the above code, you will get £5 off each tyre if processed as individual orders.0 -
I found my local tyre fitters were able to beat both mytyres and blackcircles. But I wasn't comparing a "special offer". I on the other hand found a "special offer" at one of my local fitters which knocked the socks off everyone else.
It's always worth doing a bit of research on the phone.0 -
Don't dismiss places like National or even KwikFit without giving them a quick ring first. They can have some very good special offers. Also, especially at the end of the month, the branch manager might be getting desperate to meet his sales targets. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

Not especially for fitting new tyres, but I've always found it useful to visit tyre places (and exhaust etc) with 'odd' jobs around lunchtime, or early saturday morning. Loads of jobs can get done while the boss is out at lunch, for the price of a donation to the 'tea fund'.0
