We have been trying poached egg this weekend according to some of the posts in this thread. The cling film method worked really well until I read the post about the dangers of cling film so not so keen on that now.
I tried the microwave method but a second or two before the beep the egg exploded - seems as if you do need to pierce the yolk!
I have just been cleaning out the beep microwave

Using a microwavable pot or cup - (I use one of those little plastic pots that came with an individual chocolate pudding in it) - add one desertspoon of water and the egg and microwave on full power for about 45 sec - depending on the size of the eggs and the wattage it might need a few sec more or less - (remember the eggs cook a little more too when you've stopped). Result - a perfect poached egg, no mess and sooo quick.:D
by the way i tried the clingfilm method about 4 months ago and it was a total disaster... the egg all stuck to the cling film and was impossible to get out!0 -

I have tried it, and you get perfect eggs EVERY time!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I tried poached eggs last weekend for the first time - went with Delia's method and it worked out reall well. Tried to be all impressive and make eggs benedict for breakfast in bed, but the sauce kept sliding off the eggs!! The poaching was probably enough to try on its own, I was clearly over-reaching! Anyone got any suggestions for preventing that? (and I tried to use kitchen paper to mop up most of the water and it kind of stuck to the egg so didn't really help!!):happyhear0

The way i poach eggs ....
Have eggs ready in separate bowls
Boil water in a medium size saucepan. Add 1 table spoon of vinegar and a dash of salt.
Stir water really fast.
Turn off heat and gentley add eggs to water, then put lid on saucepan.
Leave for approx 3 mins 40 secs.
Remove eggs with big spoon with holes in to drain water.
