my sister moved house a couple of months ago, the property had a phone line, she signed up with bt, and i have just found out that she had to pay bt 50 quid, does anyone know why she was charged this amount as there was already a line in the house?

It wil be held in credit on her account, and the if she ever leaves, will be refunded. I hadthis too, as I had previously been a bit of a 'slow' payer to BT. I got it back when I moved to Talk Talk.0

my sister has never been with bt before, so she has never been a slow payer, it didnt know you had to pay a deposit to bt.0

It seems the result of a credit check. A £50 deposit that is replayable after 12 months or when you leave BT, whichever happens first.
You do get interest on it, but i dont know how much. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 20 -
