I have tried a few times to open documents (usually vouchers for a PDF file I want to download ie instruction book) but a lot of them I can't because I get the message "Cannot find AcroRd32.exe file" Does anyone know what this is and how I can get it free. I run Win98 and have no discs. Or is there another way I can open these files. Thank you.

Hello
They are a standard way of delivering documents on the interweb and you will need the reader to view them.
you will need to download the reader which is from the Adobe website and is totally legit.
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2_allversions.html
it is 13.1 mbs which is quite big, so be patient.
it is worth it, most vouchers will be delivered via pdf documents.

Spingers: Thanks have downloaded this now but when I try to open the documents I get a Microsoft Warning saying
" this page provides potentially unsafe information from an ActiveX control. Your current security settings do not allow for this - as a result the page may not display properly"
I then just get a blank page - Do you know how I can fix this? thanks.0 -
What page is being referred to?
If needs be, you can change your 'Security settings' by clicking on 'Tools' and then 'Internet options' and then 'Security'.0 -
i think, yes if you go to tools/options/security/custom level, and "enable" all the ActiveX "dot boxes" then you should be ok."Excellent !!"0

Thanks to everyone. Downloading files OK now. Have enabled everything now as some were set as disable or prompt. Is it save to leave it set at enable everything permanently or should I go back and change it all again. Not sure what I'm doing here. Since I have installed it when I click on a PDF file I get asked other internet users may be able to access your informaiton do you wish to proceed0
