We are with NTL, for bb, tv and phone, but have no Bt line. Can we not use 1899 without a Bt line and if so is there any other way we can save money on calls? Mobiles most important but also landline. thanks in advance

You can use 1899 with your NTL line, you just have to dial a different access code.0

Thanks Fayraz. Didnt realise this. Will look on 1899 website for access code. I expect you have to pay registration fee. Do you know what this would be as we dont have extremely high bills anyway so not sure if its worth it.0

No registration fees for either 1899 or 18866, you only pay for the calls you make
Look for the access number and call charges under cable users.0 -

Sign up and store their 0808 1 708708 access number in your phone's memory now!Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Their prices for calls from cable phones are generally higher than if you have a BT line - but UK calls are still free after the 3p connection charge.0

Just to clarify I meant the charges 1899 levy are higher if you dial them from a cable phone than a BY line!0

pinkonion's point is that 1899's headline rates are for calls made from a BT line. Although 1899 is still very cheap from an NTL line, it's generally more expensive than callling from a BT line.
Point is - if you're a very heavy phone user who makes lots of calls to international or mobile numbers, then you might find it's cheaper to install a BT line than to carry on just using the NTL line.0
