Invitation To Apply

I have recently received an Email inviting me to apply for Mints 0% balance transfer card. Can any one tell me if this means they have already carried out a credit search and therefore guarantees acceptance or is it just a circular.
Thank you :T

    Hi Shorty

In my experience , if youre on the electorol roll , then youre fair game to send all sorts of offers to , in my view they havent done the full credit search yet till you fill out the application form

I'm pretty sure they need your permission to carry out a credit search on you.

You've probably just fallen within their target customer profile.

Just in case you don't know, you can use their Transfer and Spend cheques to get the cash into your current account. I did mine via Egg, but not sure if I needed to do that.

Need to be aware that there's a 2% (max £40) charge for Mint cheques used within 3 months of account opening. After that, who knows?

Good point YB, thanks for remembering that. £40 seemed worthwhile to me to have just under £5k for however long it was (I can't remember off the top of my head!).

Invitation to apply normally means they have done a preliminary check on your postcode and stuff. They cannot do a detailed credit cheque without your permission (in the form of an signed application form)

Therefore no guaranteed acceptance or indication of the credit limit, rate or offer you may be given.

Smile :), it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
