Buying a new computer

Time for my old computer to go and I want to buy a high end modem system.

I am looking at reputable brands like Evesham and Dell but the models I am looking at cost £1500 to £2000. However there are small computer building companies on Ebay selling the same specification unbranded computers for £1000 to £1200. I am aware that there are mickey mouse back street companies putting computers together with inferior components out there, but I' m sure that there are some who give good value.

Can anyone recommend a company, preferably one they have dealt with. I would be very grateful. Thanks.
stay lucky!
Steve.

    Highfield,

Sorry mate, my advice is to do your homework.
'Good' outfits can make bad systems and 'bad' outfits can make good ones. When I went shopping for a high-end spec I spent about 6 months researching where the market is and where it was going. :P

You did mention good value, so I would recommend you steer away from high street retailers(I make a point of ignoring any of my friends who go to PC world for about 6mths!), make a wish-list of components which are essential and check out the computer press.
I did my research looking in magazines and looked at DABS.com and SIMPLE or SIMPLY(can't quite remember what it was called but they advertise in Computer Shopper), and in the end I went to a computer market and bought a very well-built system but obviously with no after sales service, but a similar spec in PCWorld was roughly £400 more.

    Good Luck

You can spend your time alone re digesting past regrets,
Or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself.
Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

You can buy systems from them but I normally build my own buying the components, it is dead easy. I would steer clear of Dabs for ready made systems, I got my first from them and evereything was cheap and nasty and unreliable, I returned it in the money back time limit and got a refund. I would strongly recommend Evesham Vale they put some nice systems together and have or had a very good back up when I bought one from them.
