Yes I know I would by the 95k house. I can see so much potential and the kids would love the garden. You really could get lost in there, as it goes up in layers. You can't even see the back of it.
But it needs gutting. It has central heating but needs at some point new windows and roof. These things would not need to be done straight away but as firsttime buyers with children we do not have any sort of reserve of cash to do these things.
The estate agent tried putting us off by telling us already two offers etc. But he is also marketing the other property that our offer was turned down on.
My partner and I had the most huge row last night about this. Even his brother has told him not to buy the other house. Parking is such a problem in this area that any house with parking adds 10k to value.
Does anyone know the cost of new windows and roof for a 3 bed semi?
Thanks for all the help so far!0 -
you will save at least 20k buying the 95k house instead of the 119k one, and when finished the 95k one sounds like it will be worth way more.
surely the work isn't going to cost more than 20k?0 -

I would start a new thread asking these specific questions. I think you would get plenty answers.0 -
The lack of parking would concern me. Do you want to walk back from the side street with all your grocery shopping, especially if your kids are little and need watching near roads and/or it's throwing it down.0
