Bandwithe is he amoun of data you upload or download. It has nothing to do with your connection speed of 20mbps. I believe it's an unlimited download account but you may get cut off if you're upload a radio show each day or streaming an online radio show as these can eat into bandwithe and you could be into big figures quickly. Whether virgin will be ok with it..warn you or cut you off under their fair usuage guide I don;t know.

Bandwidth is the speed of the connection, the amount that can be transferred per second. 20mbit down and 768kbps up on the biggest VM product, when you're not being throttled, and 5mbit down, 192kbps up when you ARE being throttled.

Data transfer is the amount you download or upload over a set period of time.

i run an online radio station - its not got much to do with your broadband to be honest - its more about your hosting deal.

Do a search for Shoutcast hosting plans on google and get a UK company - I think theres one called Stream Solutions which handles station from 5 listeners to 1000 listeners.

You can either play tracks from an online storage space (so in theory running 24/7 without your assistance) or you can "stream" the music to the Shoutcast server yourself so people can listen live (this is where your broadband speed will come in to it).

Theres alot more areas to it, so feel free to ask more questions if you have them!!

well theres things like designing your website, getting it properly licenced or not, finding DJs to broadcast or setting up playlists, working out how many listener spaces you need, advertising the station, getting it listed in listening directories, getting it listed on internet / DAB radio directorys, getting the right software to broadcast to the server with, setting up and running a chat room, etc etc etc

I've recently joined the committee for my hospital radio station and persuaded them to go computerised (so we will have digital recordings of all our shows). However, I'm pretty sure I can never put them online because our broadcasting licence would have to be for a commercial station (broadcasting beyond hospital audience). :(

That doesn't help you at all, but it was on similar lines
