G E finance PPI miss selling on ASDA credit card

Options
My wife has an Asda credit card provided by GE Finance.

She recently received a call from them trying to sell Payment Protection Insurance at a cost of 1% of balance, terms were if unemployed / sick for 30 days minimum repayment made - unemployed / sick for 90 days balance cleared.

As we use this card for all Asda shopping & petrol and pay it off in full every month she declined the offer.

She was then told that if she accepted the PPI insurance and the balance was paid off in full there would be no charge for each month that the full ballance was paid off.

My wife then asked for details of the offer to be sent by post, the caller then said not to worry, there was a 30 day cooling off period in which she could cancel if she wished.

It is my understanding that the charge for PPI insurance on a credit / charge card is added to the balance at the statement date and it then becomes payable.

Unfortunately my wife agreed to the PPI insurance on the callers say so that it would be free of charge.

Luckily she mentioned the call to me that evening and gave me the approximate time of the call (I assume that all calls are recorded).

If we contact GE Finance should we be able to get a transcript of the call and lodge a complaint as well as cancelling the PPI insurance?

I post this also as a warning to others who may have received similar calls!
Beam me up Mr. Scott
