Look at some policy wordings online and look for exclusions under the contents section. Often insurers head this "things we will not pay for".
Most of them will exclude cover for contents during a house move unless moved by a professional firm of movers.

I remember doing a DIY move myself a few years back now and hoping that the useless brakes on the hire van would stop it in time, knowing full well that all my worldly goods in the back would not be covered by the insurers.

    EDIT
This is the relevant clause from an NU Direct policy for instance.

    Part P
    Household Removals
We will provide cover for loss of or
    damage to
    contents while being moved
by professional furniture removers from the
home to your new permanent home
(including temporary storage in a furniture
  • thats good to know

we are being moved by white and company so as long as this is in the t&c's we should be ok
