pilot flame - costs
Hello
I just wanted to check that these figures sound about right.
Ive worked it out that the pilot flame costs around £70 a year and would like some opinions as to whether this sound rights.
It uses 0.6 units per 24 hours which adds up to about 20p per day and around £70 per year.
thanks for any help.

now im concerned.
I clocked my meter reading at
12 oclock this morning at 1668 .231
4 hours later at 1668 .334
So roughly 0.1 in 4 hours. So 0.6 in 24 hours.
Im renting so what do you reckon i do get in touch with EA??

I'll ask again, what units does your meter measure? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I would think that your £70 a year is probably correct.

Bear in mind that not all the pilot light consumption is wasted heat.0 -
cheers
tommorrow im going to turn the pilot light off. then ill check when i get home if theres been any movement on the meter. So let me get this right, i must turn the gas off first then let the pilot go out then turn the gas back on? (EA said it was checked for safety reasons 6 months ago before we moved in)!!
Garz, The boiler is only used for the radiators and the big copper hot water tank in the cupboard up stairs. Its an old boiler pretty taty looking. The cooking is electric cooker.
P.s off topic is there anyway for me to set the boiler up to only heat the rads rather than the hot water tank aswell. The reason i ask is because were heating the water tank up all the time when we really dont need to.
Espresso
I dont know what im measuring in just readin the numbers on the meter, but im doing the conversion formula as written on my gas bill to get my price.
