Disposing of electrical goods?

Hi all,
Just wondering if there is somewhere in particular I can dump a printer and a shedder (home-use size, so small)? Or do I just let the bin men take them - theres a special collection of rubbish here on a Saturday that I can take them to.

The printer is old and doesnt work too good and its probably difficult or impossible to get ink cartridges for it, so not really much use to anyone.

The shredder isn't working - the blades aren't moving though the motor is running.
