Good microphone for minidisc player?

If you wanted a more professional recording then you would be looking at separate mics for the chanters, drones and drums (if there are any), however the band standing in a semi-circle and a stereo mic in the middle (as it were) will give you a representation of what they sound like.
Mini-disc has certainly fallen out of favour professionally with many people now using hard drive or flash card recorders

I reckon you'll be Ok for a while yet - though they didn't catch on here, they did in Japan where they are still quite widely used.
