So, what really makes the perfect woman? According to a new poll, most men are looking for a girl with blue eyes, blonde hair and, bizarrely, a salary considerably lower than theirs.

More than 66,000 men voted in the pole for ukdating.com, which discovered that the perfect weight for a mate is nine-and-a-half stone, that she should be 'good in bed', but not too tall, loves animals, doesn't smoke and only drinks occasionally.

The most important attribute for those polled was blue eyes, followed by that all-important blonde hair, but third on the list was the requirement that she occasionally wears glasses.

And with most men wanting to be the principle earner in any relationship, they voted for women earning between £10,000 and £25,000 a year, working in either nursing or PR.
