Here's my current HOF theory - based on what Catz was saying last night about the hard sell she got during the personal shopper experience. Here goes!

I think the only thing that would motivate HOF to risk upsetting people, and lose out on potentially £££ of custom from Virgin is the prospect that they might lose money on these experiences. I don't believe that missed appointments, or let down staff - however irritating and rude - are enough to prompt someone high up in HOF to decide to shelve thousands of pounds of custom for prizes won in the last 10 days by pulling out.

So how could HOF lose money??

Well, I've been curious about the cost of the personal shopper experience. Lets say Virgin make 10% on all the experiences they sell. So on a £350 balloon ride, they get £35. I'd guess they make more than that, but bear with me. So now take the £500 shopper at HOF - Virgin make £50, the punter gets £450 of vouchers. Who is paying for the makeover, goody bag, and the personal shopper fees?? My guess is that HOF assume that their wily personal shopper types can encourage you to go spend your vouchers wildly on things you wouldn't have dreamed of and don't really need (like Catz's suit - well done for returning it BTW) and then also get you to buy some extra things so you go over your limit. The extra sales can more than cover their costs.

Now fast forward to the last few weeks - people have been coming in and getting the vouchers and turning down the opportunity of the hard sell, hence HOF are ending up short, since they can't recover the personal shopper costs.

Just a theory What do you think?

I think you are spot on, i thought yesterday it had to be about money, for either of the companies, maybe the people shopping arent as posh as they want????? xxxxxx u never know xxxx

:rotfl: my OH said exactly this. Maybe I should clean my shoes and wear a tie when I go and pick my vouchers up??
Either that or we've caused them to fill up their schedule so their big celeb customers can't get in and do their vital shopping

Had a very busy day yesterday.....finished putting balloons up at midnight and was very drunk by then so had to crash out!!!
It's DD 14th today....she was really pleased with her goodies and what she doesn't know is that her dad has got her the new i-pod as a surprise!!!!

She's gone to school now so I'm off to make her a curry she requested for her dinner and a birthday cake!Will be popping in and out today.....so good luck everyone......

you need it by the way the t&c's keep changing........I wonder if all those affected should write to an ombudsmen or something.........??? I only needed £125 to get a £500 voucher....and have been clicking for 6 weeks to get that (to no avail!!!).....that won't be possible now.
