Help with Carers Allowance please

Can anyone give me some advice about Carers Allowance please. I rang them today for information and the person I spoke to was extremely vague. I get carers allowance because I care for a boy (13) with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. At present I do not work but I have the possibility of a part time job, just 15hrs per week. I would be required to do a one week full time induction. I need to know if I have to end the CA claim for one week and make a new claim? The man I spoke to said no but I would have to write to them and they could only make a ruling on it afterwards. That isn't much help to me I need to know before I make a decision about taking this job.
I know about the £95 earnings limit (after tax, NI and half of pension contributions) but I believe you can disregard up to half your earnings if you have to pay for care for your child or the person you usually care for.
If you pay someone to care for a child, or the person you look after, you can make extra deductions from your gross wage. Up to half of your wage can be ignored if you make these payments. You are not allowed to take off payments to a close relative for the childcare or other care.
Again it seems as if they cannot give a ruling on this until I have taken the job and started the arrangement, which is not much help for me. The boy will have to be collected from school and taken home three times per week. The advisor said the person providing care does not need to have any qualifications and they are only interested in proof of payment. He was unable to define 'close relative' he just said it meant anyone I am related to. The boy does not like change and does not adjust easily to new people, he can be challenging so choice of helper is limited. The person I had in mind is the boy's godparent but is not related to him or to me, do you think that would be OK?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi
I think if it were me, I would send a detailed letter asking for confirmation in writing as to what to do.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
The Godparent will be allowable as a childcare provider as they are not a relative.
Hope this was useful0
