Hi everyone

I gained promotion at work and so will be getting a company car with it.

This means that I will be getting rid of my beloved 307 convertible- I have never sold a car privately always traded in so this is new territory for me!

I was just wondering if the time of year made any difference with it being a convertible rather than an 'ordinary' car

Also any other tips on what works- best websites (autotrader? e-bay?) would be greatky appreciated

  • Hi,

I'm on my 2nd cabrio, best time of the year to sell is mid - late spring so that people can see the advantage of what they are buying.

I've just bought my TT roadster a month ago, when it was freezing. After haggling I got £1500 of the price which was already below Parkers guide price. Hence a £4k saving.

I know I'll be offered that premium during the summer.

Probably best list on the Auto Trader website with as many photos as possible. This is how I found my current car.

All the best with the sale

I think 'ragtop' convertibles are more prone to this seasonal effect than 'tintop' ones but you are still likely to get more interest in a couple of months.

Why don't you ask your company if you can keep your car in exchange for an allowance instead? That way you get to keep your beloved car, and your company gets to save some money.

I did think about this but the thing is I was planning on getting rid of it as having become a parent the convertible isn't a particularly family car so when I had the chance of a change via this route then seemed a good idea
