I wonder if one of you could say what the legal position is on this. He has since moved out and the agents discovered that he had ripped the labels off when they did the final inspection. I am now in a position whereby the next tenant wants to move in and I am not sure if I can allow that. The agent said they would check on the legality but I am sure that many of you will have this information at your finger tips.

do you have a record of them being on before?0

Why would he do that?poppy100

Would that not be vandalism and, by rendering the furniture unuseable in this context, as effectively as if he'd slashed all the cushions, he should pay to replace??0

How are they unusable simply because some labels have been taken off? Maybe they didn't know the labels are legally required if they are at all?Winnings

Has anyone thought to contact the previou tenant and ASK.....0

were they really ripped off - or just not there anymore ....
I mean like by trying to clean well the labels would come off vs. being ripped off and you can still see some bits of the sticker...
strange!
which make me think I have never seen such labels in my rented places!0 -
The labels for fire safety will be attached with those plastic tags things. It is illegal to let a property without the furniture being fire proofed and I would think that the only way to prove this would be to check the tags are on there.Loretta0

The labels mean that I can only use cushions one way up so it is best to remove them so that when they get dirty I can just turn the cushion over.0
