Breakdown cover

After going round in circles not sure what to do r.e our breakdown cover.
We need:
Home cover i think but only as i work early mornings, am i better off not going to work one morning and not paying for this? does it mean i have to get it to the garage if we dont have it?
roadside as i drive bck and forth every day but not far..
not sure what else tbh
We currently pay £80 per year for ours.
Thanks

  • You could try Tesco!

If you have a Clubcard you can use points at 4X their face value against various levels of RAC breakdown cover.

Alternatively Tesco currently have various 30% off deals (1st year only) with Green Flag. There are 3 or 4 options to choose from. Green Flag Total Care @ £55.00.

  • i sugest you search through previous posts on this subject. I ( on the recommendation) pay £31 per annum. I get me and / or my husband in any car and my or my husbands car with any driver. the usual homestart take you to your destination car recovery etc . It really is brill the only thing to remember is that they will arrange the recovery but you have to initially pay for it and then recover the costs. I (would you believe it) used the service last week and so far it looks good. I simply paid by creidt card and with luck i will have been reimbursed before the bill actually comes in. I will keep you all informed if i get any hiccups. sorry i was just about to send this post without realising that i have not given the name!!! it is auto aid and i think the telephone number is 01277235799:beer:

I can recommend autoaid as well although I think the price is £36.
It "pay & claim" which means you need to pay up front and claim the cost back but there ar many people who say they've been paid within a few days.
It covers homestart, rescue, recovery and onward travel - so comprehensive cover.
It covers married spouses so can cover all cars in your household.

Plenty of opinion and discussion if you do a search (almost all of it is posistive).

  • You can compare policies on http://www.simplebreakdowncover.co.uk/compare_main.php - they will give you exact amount you'll need to pay depending on your individual circumstances (i.e. age of your car, annula mileage etc.).

If you want to go for bigger brands, I'd recommend RAC (quite expensive but reliable) or Green Flag - good value for money. AA is the top one but premiums are way too high in my opinion! I have used them for 3 years but it cost me ~£150 a year!

If you want RAC or Green Flag then you can get £20 cashback from http://www.quanti.co.uk/automotive/breakdown-cover/ which lowers the premium significantly.

    Hope this helps.
