Deleted files but not in bin

Hey Folks
Just burned some holiday pics to a CD and deleted the folder. It then said it was to big for the recycle bin (it was 8g) and asked if I wanted to perminitly delete the files. I said yes and it went.

I checked my recycle bin and they arent there. What happened to them??

Well, it just told you that the files would not fit in your recycle bin, so they have been PERMANENTLY deleted. So you will not find them.

It is possible to get the files back if you are an expert in data recovery or something but its very difficult.
  • I dont need them back, was just curious where they went lol

They are gone into that mysterious place where all the missing half of a pair of socks, lost biros, and paperclips go... never to be found again.

They won't have gone anywhere, they will still be on your hard drive, all deleting a file does is remove the operating systems knowledge of it, it stays on the disk until it is overwritten. The recycle bin is just an intermediate step between this, you can avoid the recycle bin by using shift and delete if you so wish but deleting a file is by no means permanent. It's even in theory possible to recover files after they have been overwitten but this starts getting more difficult.
