Rather a long story coming, so pin back your ears;
My OH has an annuity paid every year in January from a policy he took out with National Mutual. Payments were paid by GE Life. They then handed payments onto a company called Tomorrow. Payments are in our bank account around 2nd January. This year they did not appear, and we then had a
a notice to say that payments were being taken over by a company Windsor life………who have got the whole thing round their necks. First they could not find the policy. Then they told us the payment had been made, which it had not as it did not appear on our bank statement………then they paid in a payment £60 less than the due amount. Another phone call, well you pay tax on your annuity, no we do not, we never have in the past and my OH has over £6,000 earning capacity before he has to pay tax, and in any case £60 is far more than the 20% tax if we were due to pay it.
I wrote to the complaints dept by recorded delivery, they said they had not got the letter and in any case were working 4 weeks behind. We still have not heard from them………..at the same time I sent a letter to the Ombudsman who did have the courtesy to reply………..we are waiting to hear from them.
In the mean time OH phoned his tax office who confirmed that he did not have to pay tax on any income and said they had already sent one notice of coding to Windsor Life, but they would send another one.
My phone bill for last month was over £50 mostly calls to Windsor Life, I have asked for compensation…..we cannot afford to spend this amount of money on getting someone to do their job correctly. The number is an 0870 number charged at premium rates, I have just found their normal phone number after someone kindly sent me to the ‘say no to 0870 site’
What makes matters worse, today I checked my online bank account and WL have put in over £500!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just cannot see their thinking…..however I have moved the money to a savings account whilst it is sorted out. I know when they realise, as they will, whats gone on they will want the money back.
I am at my wits end, I really do not know what to do next………….it is affecting me badly…..my GP has just put me on medication for stress….
Has anyone any suggestions???????
Thanks for reading…..and letting me vent……when you phone you always have to wait ages, so we are obviously not the only ones who are having problems………

At least you have the non 0870 number you can phone them on and you have some of their money earning you some interest.0
