Natwest Credit Card

I'm 18 and need a bit of advice on the credit card front. Natwest are offering me a credit card, with interest at 11.9%, which surprised the manager when he entered my details into the computer, as it said its usually around 12.9%, and £2000 credit limit a month. With the usual 0% on purchases for 6 months. This isn't a student credit card. I'm going to/and able to pay it off every month. But do you think this a good deal to stick with and build up my credit rating? I've been with natwest for nearly 7 years, and have a sizeable amount of savings. I'm not in full time work either. Thanks in advance for any advice.

  • If you are able to pay it off in full every month (set up a Direct Debit to ensure that you do) then the interest rate is rather academic, as you will never pay any interest.

Any credit card, used carefully and always paid in full, is good for building up your credit rating.

Just one point - the credit limit will be £2000, not £2000 a month - bearing in mind the time lag between spending and paying for items you will only be able to spend about £700-£1000 a month before you hit your credit limit.
  • Thanks.

Yes, I meant £2000! I was just thinking to myself that I would pay it off every month.
