  • Hi Siren,

Love the invites, I managed to get some personalised ones from ebay which worked out quite cheap (I am useless at anything creative really) lol...when are you getting married?

Thanks for looking, I have seen these http://www.rainbowfloristsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Bubble.html

I thought I could get some pink crystal gel and put that at the bottom, with some white sand in the smaller vase and a candle on top maybe?

I have managed to get quite a bit sorted out very cheap so that is good, we cant afford a big expensive wedding so we have to make do so to speak. I have managed to get my wedding dress from Ebay, costing £26 but I have to fit in to it yet lol.. If not then my dad said that he would be able to adjust it for me.

One of my best mates used to own his own photography studio & has done loads of weddings so he will be taking the photos I just have to buy the film.

My other best friend has done a floristry course and is very creative so she is going to be providing the flowers as her present to us..

The pub we are having the reception at has said that we can have the room for free, we just have to pay for the staff per hour, and someone I know is going to be doing the catering for about £450

I have managed to book the honeymoon to Bulgaria. i know its apparantly not ideal place to go for honeymoon, but we will be bringing our 2 children (who will be 6 years and 15 months) 1 week b&B in a 4* (probably more like 3 I would say) is £696 all in...

..lol sorry I have been waffleing on a bit havent I.....

I getting married in 2010 and can't wait, I know it's a long way off but we're on a budget so it makes more sense to start now. Isn't it great to have friends who are handy at stuff...............mmmm how to make friends with a florist.....lol! You have a really good price on the catering, mine comes in with venue hire at £1300 for 66 people, although I'm going to see if there's room for negotiation on this. Bulgaria sounds lovely, it's supposed to be really nice, and your children will love it, I think we'll try for Turkey but the flights always seem to be expensive.

I don't mind waffling, lol, I live, sleep, eat and talk exclusively about weddings, it's great to get out of my system, as soon as I say the word 'wedding' my OH's eyes go glazed and he goes into automatic nodding and 'yeah' mode. Have you got a pic of your dress? I'm very nosey, are you having a veil? My dress is black and cream (oooh I love it) and I tried a veil on in the bridal shop, it was a snip at £110 (as if!) so my sister has an one in the style I tried on and I bought black crystals from Ebay to iron onto it, so saved £110 there, also I have my beady eye on a lovely tiara on Ebay, woe betide anyone that bids on it and my other sister (I have three) is giving me her shoes.

I managed to get three bridesmaids dresses for £37 and three Monsoon bolero cardies for £12 so they were an absolute bargain. OH would like a suit but he hates straight leg pants so wants trousers with a slight flare, I have my son to dress who'll be almost seven and as I'm due in May will have a two year little girl (Katie) to get dressed. I'll try to match DS to OH's suit and will get Katie something really pretty to wear. It's tricky to try and keep my budget realistic, my head keeps getting turned by lovely stuff I'd like, I was thinking that instead of dessert from the hotel I could get a chocolate fountain or serve my wedding cake, which is three tiers and I think will be fruit, chocolate and victoria sponge but I'm sure all that will sort itself out, now how's about that for waffling!:rotfl:

I love your idea for the flowers, it's stunning and will look really good on the tables, it's unique as well and will really bring a flash of colour, I can imagine the flowers in pink, and you could get vanilla scented candles or similiar, try the pound stores, I'm sure I saw some nice candles in the 99p stores, freeze them before you use them and the last longer apparently. To save money I've not bothered with favours as all the weddings I've been to, these get left behind, perhaps if I have the funds I might do seed favours but I'm undecided at the moment.

  • Hi sylvia,

try hosting the photos on www.photobucket.com, you'll have to sign up but it's free. It's really easy, you browse your computer and chose a picture, just by clicking on upload picture, when you click on this it'll bring up a menu on your computer, just go to where the pictures are located and click on them, it will fill in the location for you and all you have to do then is click upload. It might take a little time depending on your internet speed, when this is done, click on my album, scroll down a bit and the pictures should be there with all the links etc below them right click on the one that says direct link and choose copy, you should end up with a link like this:

    http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee306/siren13577/HPIM01732.jpg

Press CTRL and V together which will paste the link here. I hope this makes sense perhaps someone else can explain more simply. I can't wait to see your little girl's dresses!

  • Ah thanks for your comments. It is quite stressfull organising a wedding isnt it!? (or is it just me)
I think its because we really are on a tight budget and "things" always seem to crop up, for example our tv has broke so thats more expense....

Oh well, I am sure I will get there in the end, afterall it is all about getting married and not about the day as such...(she says trying to convice herself)...lol

I'm finding the big stuff really easy to do its all the small stuff that driving me crazy.

We keep having things break as well - our tv on off button has broken plus the extractor fan and the microwave - guess what will be on our wedding list :rotfl:

It is all about getting married and not the day but boy will I be glad when its all over and I'm lying on a beach with a glass of champagne in my hand :D

    hiya,

We are having ircile of tea lights aroud the middle of our tables - the glass tealight holders were 9pence each from ikea and we also got a couple of packets of tealights from there too - grand total was £11 to decorate 10 tables with ten tealights on each.

I also bought pink and iridescent table confetti from tescos which was 99p per packet. Not sure if they still have it, but worth a look.

    Good luck!
