Wedding decoration help please

Hello all!

I am looking for some insperation. I am getting married in August, and the colour scheme is pink and white (I would like a bit of sparkle thrown in 2!):rotfl: But I am lost for how to decorate the pub function room that we have. It is quite small and quite dark. I think that balloons would probably close the room in more and make it look even smaller. Does anyone have any good money saving ideas as to how I could make the room look nice.

Thanks in advance

  • as it's a dark room you could have battery powered fairy lights in vases and provide your own cream or white table cloths, you can get these vases from Ikea:
    http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00017133
    for 99p each.

Alternatively you could have hurricane lamps with pink candles with white sand, or even clear stones. You could have confetti on the tables to catch the light of the candles or you could have your flowers in the middle surrounded by scented tea lights, perhaps you could get mirrored candle holders which would reflect the light around. I wouldn't worry too much about it being dark as I think it creates an atmosphere for the evening and simple things like candles look great, a few tweeks like clean crisp white tablecloths and candles would work wonders. Good luck!!!!

  • Thanks for the ideas, I just came to a stand still. Everything I thought of just came back to balloons and I didnt really fancy them as they can cost a fortune. I like the idea of the pink candle with white sand, that sounds nice, one quick question, have you any idea where I could get white sand from?

    Thanks again

  • pink feather bowas with christmas tree lights trimming the top of the walls of the room? (if the pub will let u). Will look nice and twinkly and pink :)
  • Hi there

I looked at the balloon lights before, I think they are actually £1 eaxh, buy 10 and get 10 free so I think it will be £10 for 20 lights, which isnt bad, I actually bought a couple to try out a few months ago and they are good.
Maybe I could put the balloon light in a vase of pink jelly soil stuff as the centre piece on a white tablecloth with confetti ?

Oh, I just dont know...the choices are endless..

yes you right the balloon lights are 99p each i should know i bought them about 3 months ago lol

    as for choices you asked!
the idea of puttting them in vase(99p ones from ikea) with pink jelly soil will look stunning if you wanted to add height place twigs spray painted in vases aswell could even have jewels on twings to add even more sparkle
  • sounds good. I have just found some crystal gel the cheapest I could find was this

    http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0148079
£2.49 it is clear (i think, but I could just put the balloon lights inside and I think it would brighten things up a bit)

  • I'm glad the ideas are okay, I'm doing as much as I can do myself for my wedding, I'm making my own invites, doing my own flowers and decorations, even seeing if I can persuade the venue to let me buy yummy costco cakes for dessert and have them instead of providing dessert for 66 people at £4.00 a head. My invites look like this except with purple ribbon:
    http://www.confetti.co.uk/shopping/stationery/selectOptions.asp?rangeid=1300&occasion=0
and will have embossed initials on them, made using a heat gun and embossing powder. I found these while looking on ebay:

I hope it's okay and I'll have a look for the white sand for you. You could go to the local woods and find thin fallen twigs, let them dry and spray them silver, gold or with a glitter spray if you wanted the height that shopaholic suggested.
