Seriously try the Ombudsman. I know someone whose work all got done in a short space of time once they were involved. The Ombudsman was very quick to respond and get a response from the council.

I've had the very same problem as you. do you know the name of the company? We had crispin & borst and the work they have done is p!ss poor. just about everything and everything has been done wrong. I could of done a way better job myself, To this day they still have work that still needs to be done that hasn't been done.
  • This is really putting me of letting my social landlord touch my property.

They fitted a new kitchen about 4 yrs ago, and it's dropping to bits in more ways than one.

They now want to re-wire, fit another bathroom suite, fit radiator temp knobs change guttering. really concerned about letting them in. Wouldn't mind a new bathroom too.

Don't be put off as it depends on who they have contracted the work to. Have you contacted them about the previous work that is "dropping to bits"? If they don't know about it then they can't make it right.

With regards to your guttering ,it may have been asbestos, which was used quite widely used for guttering and downpipes in the 40s through to the 60s.This may explain why the first lot couldnt do the job and the second lot looked like umpalumpas ;).As for the shoddy work see a solicitor that deals with housing matters and take out a section 82,or threaten to:D that usually gets things moving.

well the guttering was done on friday it took 2 of them all day but saying that they didn't turn up until 10.30am and left around 4.00pm also they had measured the faceure wrong so had to join it on the ends both were 10" to short...just waiting for the scaffolding to be taken down now...but that doesn't excuse them as I have been waiting since 15th december 2007 for them to do it...do you think my house will fall down when they take the scaffolding away since it's been up so long...lol...:rotfl:...the surveyer for home housing came on friday also but he didn't seem to be much help really...the company who do the repair's are KMS kingston maintence service's absolutely crap company would not recommend them to anyone...none of there people are tradesmen they seem to be jack of all trade's but none seem to be qualified in anything...I have been digging around when they do put an appearance in I make them a cup of coffee and then start asking them what they are qualified in it is absolutely shocking that a man can put in a radiator but not be a qualified plumber just something he learned off someone else...that's why it's still leaking then...so annoyed with them but can see the light at the end of the tunnel...:)

Contacted them on a number of occasions about it, but I'm still waiting for someone to at least inspect the work. There's still cut offs and screws swept under the cupboards, the mess just can't be seen because the faschia boards cover it.

It's such a big worry to have these so called tradesmen enter your house and carry out the works.

when my late mum had her's done they were very good used a company from middlebrough very professional...but I know what you mean these landlords now take the cheapest quote and let that company do the work it seems to me they are not bothered that they do a good job or not...:)
