Good advice, thanks for that. There are 2 adults in the house so I'm guess a 3.5 woud be okay. I'll check the prices that deside.

How about safty though? Would it be covered by most insurance policies? I don't know why I am so worried about fires.

So if brands don't really matter, how about this one?

Been looking and I have gone for this one:

Fairly cheap and dishwasher safe. Also I can do larger things if needed.

Rebekah: don't say you wouldn't leave it on! Now I'm worried even more, lol. The whole reason I want one is to cook for me Monday to Friday while I'm at work.

I leave mine (morphy richards) on for 10 hours while we're all out ;) No problems at all so far :p

The suggestion is to try it when you're at home, a glass lid is good as you can see how much it bubbles up to allay your fears of it boiling over or anything (most suggest you leave an inch gap when you fill it to make sure).

I got an oval one as there was more chance of fitting a whole chicken in it - but then have only cooked chicken in it once :o

This 3.5l one looks like a good deal from Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4228709/Trail/searchtext%3ESLOW+COOKER.htm

were a family of 4,I had a 6.5l one but found it to be too big(be good for people who batch cook/cook n freeze) I bought a Breville 4.5l one and its perfect, one with an Auto setting is quite good, but not an necessity.
PS/I think the oval shaped ones are more versatile than the round ones.

I recently bought a Rival Crockpot which is 6.5L:eek: having had a Tower Compact one which only really did 3-4 meals. It takes up quite a bit of room but is oval and can take a whole chicken, etc. I usually cook enough in it to do for two meals (2 x 4) and could probably do half as much again I reckon. HTH.
