Buying a slow cooker (which? & why?)

We have a 6.5 L and it's huge. There's only 3 of us so I just freeze for next time. This is a good size for making a large chilli or spag bol etc.

I Got The Small ,3.5l I Think, One From Argos As A Pressie At Xmas.we Are A Family Of 5 And I Find Its Big Enough For Us But Havent Tried To Do A Whole Chicken Yet-my One Is More A Round Shape Than An Oval Which I Think Would Be Best For Chicken

I use the 6.5l one (oval) many of the meals made in it are for 2, but leave plenty of extras for the freezer. I love itOne day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I would also vote for the 6.5l one. There are five of us, including my 11yo DS who eats like a horse! My eldest twin DD are vegetarians. The larger crock allows me to insert a small casserole dish with a veggie option and cook two meals at the same time. Just a thought, but before buying one, you could always put a 'want' on freecycle for this size and see if anything turns up.New Mantra: I must not visit MSE until after I've completed all my chores!!!!!0

Thank you to everyone. I think the 6.5l one looks like my best option so I will try for that. I will also look at Freecycle before buying. I love this site!!0

Hi Amanda,
I'm looking at this one..........a few people on Old Style have recommended it. At the moment it's reduced from £33.97 to £22.65.
Much better if you can get one on Freecycle though.

Thanks peeps. Nothing on freecycle so I have bitten the bullet and rung and reserved the recommended cooker from Argos. I am picking it up later today so next weeks menu will be full of slow cooked meals!0
