Sammz...fyi, I've managed to destroy two of these Cookworks slow cookers. In both cases the ceramic pot developed lots of hairline cracks and liquid seeped out. To me it looked like a possible fire hazard as the liquid evaporated and the residue congealed inside the main body of the cooker which heats up. I don't mean to put you off, but perhaps it'd be worth your while getting the replacement cover insurance in case it happens to yours too. Personally I wouldn't get another one of these slow cookers, and would prefer to spend a tenner or two extra for something by Morphy Richards or similar.0 -
What size would you experts recommend for one average, one overaverage!! (21 stone!!) and two small children??Made it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:0

I've just had a look through these, what a nice find that 6.5 litre one is in Argos, I was looking for one big enough to fit a chicken in and bulk cook, that looks ideal, thanks for that! One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I recently got a Rival 6.5L (new) one from e bay for £16.00 because I missed all the Tesco and Argos deals - I was a bit peeved because I realised I had wanted an oval one and when it came it WAS oval - hoorah !. It fits a whole chicken and seems very good. John Lewis are selling the same one for about £22.00 and if you want to cook a whole chicken I can certainly recommend it.0

Oops, I just saw this and have already bought it. I'll have a look round the internet and see if I can find out whether it's a common problem.OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090 -
Having read through all of this thread, I decided to get the Morphy Richards 3.5L slow cooker.
I found it on the net for within pennies of £24.99 and I phoned up a large Tesco who had an expensive one at £35 but they told me to try the huge Tesco in Milton Keynes Kingston. I got it for £19.99 (it was on offer with £5 off).
Thought I would mention it in case any of you are nearby to Kingston and want one or can contact your nearest big Tesco and check their stock. I asked them to keep one for me (they had 2) and when I got there the shelves were empty apart from the display model.
It's model no 48710.
Thanks to everyone for all their thoughts. It certainly made my job easier these last few days deciding which one to get. I just love this site and can't wait to try the SC out. :j: Recipe threads for it next methinks!A penny saved is one you don't have to earn! :wave:0 -

I got my 6.5 Morphy one early too( was overcome with excitement :j ), It's a big beast ,keep wondering how on earth I'm going to fill it"Every time you feel yourself getting pulled into someone else's nonsense, tell yourself: Not my circus, not my monkeys." - Mark Borkowski.

Just found this one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.200-7109.aspx
I'm wondering if anyone has tried it? We're a bit brassic so I'm nervous about spending anything, but our next little un is due in a week, I figure that stuffing everything in a slow cooker first thing on a morning and then spending the rest of the day with two under 2 and managing to get tea on the table for OH comes home might be a possibility!
Would love ot hear if anyone has any good/bad comments about this one? Would love to get the Morphy Richards big silver dude from Ebay but have been stung a couple of times on there so I'm nerous about buying now, unless anyone can suggest a reputable slow cooker seller??
